Privacy Policy

1. What we never see

MakeMB compresses and splits PDFs entirely in your browser. Your files are opened, processed, and saved on your own device. File contents are never transmitted to, stored on, or readable by our servers. This is an architectural property of the product, not just a policy commitment.

2. What we collect

Account data: your name, email address, a hashed password, and your chosen theme preference. We use this to authenticate you and keep you signed in.

Usage data: your credit balance, the number of credits you have used, and a log of your 10 most recent processed files containing only the file name, original size, and resulting size. Older log entries are permanently deleted automatically.

3. Payments

Credit top-ups are processed by Helcim, our payment provider. We accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, and JCB. Your card details are entered directly into Helcim's checkout and never touch our servers. We store only the transaction reference and the number of credits purchased. Charges appear on your statement as "Moga Web", the company behind MakeMB.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use a single, essential authentication cookie to keep you signed in.

For traffic analytics, we use Traffic Source Analytics, a privacy-first analytics tool: it sets no cookies and uses no tracking identifiers to follow you across sites, and all analytics data is processed and stored on servers we control rather than being shared with a third party. We do not use advertising cookies or any other third-party tracking.

5. Data retention and deletion

Your account data is retained while your account is active. File logs are capped at your 10 most recent entries. You can request full deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us; deletion is completed within 30 days.

6. Data sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties. The only external service that processes data on our behalf is Helcim, solely for payment processing.

7. Browser extension

Our optional browser extension (MakeMB for Chrome) is a convenience launcher for this service. When you right-click a PDF link and choose the MakeMB menu item, the extension downloads that PDF from its source and opens it in MakeMB with the file already loaded — the file is still processed entirely in your browser and is never uploaded to us.

The extension keeps a short history of your recent compressions (file name, date, and original and resulting sizes) stored only on your own device in your browser's local extension storage. This history never leaves your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else. You can clear it at any time from the extension's popup, and removing the extension deletes it.

8. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify signed-in users before the changes take effect.

9. Who operates MakeMB

MakeMB is operated by Moga Web, 211 – 320 Matheson Blvd West, Mississauga, ON L5R 0H2, Canada — the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
