What's the actual file size limit for IRCC uploads?
It depends on where you're submitting. IRCC's secure account portals generally cap individual PDF uploads at 4 MB, while some of their web forms are limited to 2 MB. MakeMB compresses or splits your file to fit whichever limit applies.
Will compression make a client's documents illegible?
No — compression recompresses the embedded images in the PDF rather than re-scanning at a lower resolution, so text and photos stay readable. If a file still won't fit after compressing, use Split instead: it divides the PDF into parts that are each guaranteed to be under the limit.
Does this fit with my confidentiality obligations as an RCIC?
